I started this blog as a way to document my yearly reading challenges. I was able to read 59 books last year, only one book short of my 60 books challenge. I set up the same challenge this year hoping to exceed my goal. To meet or exceed this goal, I must read at least 5 books a month. So, how did I do in the first quarter? Am I ahead or behind and should I reconsider my challenge? To help put things into perspective, here are the books I read each month.
January
I was short of my five books minimum a month and read only three books.
The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison
February
I also didn’t make my five books minimum mark.
March
This was my worst reading month. I only read one book 😦
So, at the end of the first quarter I was only able to read seven books instead of the 15 books I needed to be on a strong track to achieving my 60 books goal. However, I am not discouraged. One thing I’ve realized is that I read very slow with a paperback due to the fact that I cannot always take it everywhere with me or sometimes I forget to transfer it from one purse to the other hence leading to me wasting valuable time I could use to be reading. But my Kindle app on my iPhone goes everywhere with me. Even when I don’t plan on reading I find myself pulling out my phone to catch a quick read. I didn’t read any paperback in the month of April, I read only on my Kindle and have already read five books so far, currently on my sixth book.
In conclusion, I am definitely not discouraged. I do believe that with determination I will bounce right back.
59 books last year?! That’s impressive! Your annual target is also so impressive. Your posts come to my inbox via the Pan-African Book Club.Kudos and good luck with achieving all your goals!
